Office of the Assistant to the President for Community Engagement & Inclusion

Belong. Engage. B.E. True Blue

Under the Office of President, we serve as a central hub for community engagement.

What

Community engagement, is simply:

a partnership between higher education institutions and their larger communities.”

Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement

We also preserve and perpetuate a more open, fairer, inclusive campus experience for every member of MTSU’s campus.

How

We pursue community engagement & inclusion through:

  • Connection – building positive relationships within our campus and with the community.
  • Communication – listening and responding, as feasible, to community-identified needs.
  • Collaboration – involving local entities in addressing community concerns.
  • Consistency – ensuring sustained engagement and support.

Why

We pursue community engagement & inclusion to:

  • Address societal issues through research, teaching, and service
  • Enrich teaching and research activities of our faculty and staff by involving students in experiential learning and other high-impact practices
  • Prepare students to become more informed and engaged citizens within their communities

B.E. TRUE BLUE

On campus and in the community, we want MTSU students, faculty, staff, and community members to Belong. Engage. Be True Blue.

To BE True Blue means to put the MTSU True Blue Pledge into action.

Whether you are a student, faculty, staff member, or community partner, our goal is to make the resources you need to B.E. True Blue just a click away.
